Frequently Asked Questions

We reserve the right to make additions and changes to the information below.

Once again Fannish Inquisition ( and the California Browncoats will team up to host a fan convention in Los Angeles at a date in 2016 to be announced.

Below are answers to some frequently asked questions.

When will the event be held?

The event will be held in 2016 at a date to be announced.

Where will the event be held?

The event will be held in Los Angeles at a venue to be announced.

When will tickets go on sale?

A sale date will be announced after dates for the event have been confirmed.

When will guests be announced?

As soon as guests are fully confirmed we will announce them on our Guests page.

Due to their busy schedules it is possible we will still be adding guests to our lineup right up to the date of the event.

All guests will attend pending work/health obligations.

Are announced guests guaranteed to attend?

We do not announce guests as attending until we have an agreement with them in place. That said, professional commitments can occasionally crop up at short notice and there is always a small chance our guests may have to cancel. If a scheduled guest cancels due to work obligations or health issues we will always do our best to replace them with another guest although we can not make any guarantees.and tickets will not be refunded due to guest changes.

What happens to my money if the event is canceled?

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. If we are forced to cancel the event due to circumstances beyond our control you will receive a refund of your ticket (minus any 3rd party processing fees) but we are not responsible for any other costs incurred including travel and accommodation.

For your protection, we maintain a separate, privately funded account to cover any costs we incur up to the time of the event that will enable us to refund tickets to individuals in a worst-case-scenario that requires us to cancel the event. This means that even after we pay necessary funds associated with planning the event (venue deposits etc) we expect to be able to cover the cost of your ticket refunds.

We have actually had this system in place for our previous three events but we feel the need to make it clear this year given the increasing number of fan-run events both domestically and overseas that have been filled with empty promises resulting in fans being heart broken and losing their money.

To be clear, our private backup fund is to cover your ticket purchase refund in the event we have to cancel the entire event, it does not apply if you change your mind about attending or if certain guests have to cancel their appearance. If guests do cancel we will always do our best to replace them with another guest but if guests must cancel commitments it is beyond our control and we cannot offer a refund as much as we know how disappointing such a cancellation can be.

If you are considering attending other events we strongly encourage you to always read the conditions and ask direct questions before purchasing tickets because many of them do not guarantee any kind of refund and some state in their conditions that even if they willingly cancel the event they will keep half your money! Always proceed with caution especially with events run by fans with no prior convention administration experience.

Can I get a refund or sell my ticket?

Tickets are non-refundable (unless we cancel the convention as stated above) and non transferable. You will be required to add names for each of the tickets you buy when you check out and we will check your ID when you pick up your badge at the event.

As noted above refunds cannot be issued due to changes in our guest lineup or because you simply change your mind.

If you find yourself with exceptional circumstances meaning you can no longer attend the event you need to contact our event organizers who will consider a refund or transfer on a case by case basis but it is not our policy to offer refund as a general rule.

What payment options will you have?

Tickets will go on sale through Brown Paper Tickets. Credit Card and Paypal will be accepted.

Who is running the event?

The event is run by Fannish Inquisition ( in association with the registered charity California Browncoats. This event is in no way associated with ABC, Marvel or Disney.

More information can be found at their website:

Is there an age limit?

All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Can I use my camera?

No video or audio recording is allowed during the event without prior written approval from us.

You may take still photos during Q&A sessions. Flashes may only be used for the first five minutes, after that you must disable your flash if you wish to continue taking photos. You may not take photos to be used for commercial purposes.

We know you will be eager to post your photos online during or after the event but please be considerate and try to post those that present our guests looking their best (eg, avoid posting photos with bad expressions, while drinking etc).  Rule of Thumb: If it was a photo of you that someone else took is it one you would choose to post online for everyone to see?

You may NOT ask guests to pose for photos during the event. Everyone will have the opportunity to purchase official photo opportunities with yourself and each of the guests taken by our event photographers Geek Shot Photography. This is for the benefit of all attendees and our guests.

You may NOT take photos during the autograph session as this slows down the process and we don’t want people to miss out on their autographs because we run out of time.

What can I get autographed?

In person autographs from our guests will be available to purchase (some autographs are included in some ticket packages).

We will have limited items available to purchase for you to have autographed by our guests or you can have our guests autograph any official merchandise (eg, dvds, books, graphic novel, posters).  You may also have your photo op autographed, printed photographs or pictures (no inappropriate manips) or bring other items to be signed.

No inappropriate items will be allowed and guests will not sign body parts. If you are unsure if your item is suitable please contact us in advance.

Our guests may have their own preference for items they will or won’t sign, we will do our best to notify you of any such issues in advance.

Can I bring gifts for the guests?

We strongly discourage you bringing gifts for the guests but if you have a personal item (drawing etc) or something special that you really want to give you may do so but all gifts must be unwrapped so that they may be checked by one of our staff to prevent anything inappropriate or dangerous being handed over, if you are unsure if something might be appropriate please contact us in advance to check. Some exceptions may apply meaning no gifts can be accepted by some of our guests.

You may NOT under any circumstances try to present a gift during the Q&As or any part of the event aside from the autograph sessions, all gifts will be checked by a staff member first.

Notes on Appropriate Behavior

You must at all times behave in a manner respectful to our guests, hotel staff, volunteer staff and fellow attendees.

Please remember to be patient while waiting in lines, everyone is as eager to interact with the guests as you are and being rude to other attendees or volunteer staff won’t get you anywhere.

During the convention you are not allowed to make any kind of request of the guests including inviting them to events, asking them for favors, asking them to phone a friend etc.

When asking questions please be prepared and think out your question in advance so you know what you want to say. Do not take up valuable question time by rambling, try to get straight to your question.

Please do not ask guests about personal issues and avoid political or religious questions as these tend to make a lot of people uncomfortable.

When meeting any celebrity it is vitally important that you remember that to them you are a complete stranger.  You may feel like you know them and have a relationship with them but the harsh reality is you are a stranger to them and not their friend.  Please remember that you should always be polite and don’t try to get physical.  Think about how you would feel if a stranger walked up to you and hugged you or slapped you on the backside or said something inappropriate.
